Paintable Surface Parent

Final version of the paint particle and its use in puzzles within the classroom level

Paintable Surface Parent

When designing Stroke of Magic's core gameplay, one of my goals was to include a unique way to interface with the game's world. The brush is used to add paint onto specific surfaces that can be found within the puzzles.

The yellow paint can be used to connect power sources to unpowered nodes, completing the electric current. The green paint is heavy, and can be used to weigh down special pressure plates. However, elements within each room exist to prevent the puzzles from being completed. In the classroom, water rinses away the yellow paint, and so the source must be tracked down and plugged. In the library, jani-toads chase and eat any green paint they can find. By leading them to a pneumatic pipe, they'll be incapacitated!

This surface tool I built allows for puzzle features to be instanced quickly and consistently, with precise control over the amount and types of paint particles. You can check out more about my contributions to Stroke of Magic here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/eldLA6
